Jersey Cricket were delighted to have R&H Jersey onboard as sponsors of our Girls & Women’s cricket equipment for the 2022 season. The sponsorship allowed for the purchase of new hardball equipment that was used in the Women’s Premier League competition.

The 2022 season saw the WPL grow from 4 to 6 teams with over 70 female players taking part in competitive hardball T20 fixtures. With the infancy of the competition, new players were introduced to the game, which required new equipment to aid their development and enjoyment of the sport. The funding from R&H Jersey ensured that the new players had access to brand new leg pads, gloves, helmets and bats.

As part of the deal, the Women’s national side also placed R&H Jersey stickers on their bats to show support of the sponsorship that would help grow the sport on the island.

Jersey Cricket’s Performance & Development Manager, Lee Meloy, said “when introducing new players to the sport it’s vital that they have a positive experience and want to return for more. A big barrier in hardball cricket is the price and availability of the equipment. Thanks to R&H this meant that our new players would feel comfortable while taking part”.

Matthew Christensen, R&H Jersey Partner, added “we were thrilled to sponsor the sports equipment for the Jersey Women’s Premier League and national squad players. We know the importance of having the right support and encouragement to deliver results, and were delighted to see the players and league develop throughout the season. R&H looks forward to continuing its sponsorship and watching women’s cricket continue to flourish in Jersey”.
