Lionesses to join Middlesex CCC & Sunrisers Sessions
To continue the Jersey Cricket & Middlesex CCC partnership, established in 2020, 4 of Jersey’s most promising young female cricketers will be travelling to London later this week to take part in high performance training sessions with Middlesex U15s and Sunrisers cricket coaches.
Erin Gouge, captain of Lionesses U15s, alongside fellow juniors Erin Duffy, Mia Maguire and Grace Wetherall, all of whom are also members of the Women’s national squad, will get the opportunity to train alongside their peers at Middlesex CCC. It will be the first time junior female cricketers in Jersey have undertaken a trip of this nature and the hope is that it will continue in future years to provide pathway opportunities for Jersey’s talented young Lionesses.
Jersey Cricket Performance Manager and Women's Head Coach, Lee Meloy said 'we are delighted to once again be working with Middlesex CCC and Sunrisers cricket to provide more opportunities for our young players. All 4 have trained hard and given a lot of time to developing their games over the past 2 years, so this opportunity has been earned’.
‘Both Mia and Erin D are now at school full time in the UK on multi-sport scholarships including cricket. All 4 players have a bright future in the game and already feature regularly for our Women’s side. We have a busy summer planned with international fixtures both home and away in which the girls will get their chance to showcase their skills’.
