Neil MacRae to step down as Director of Cricket

Director of Cricket, Neil Macrae will leave his role and the island to take up a new role as Head Coach of Netherlands Women. Having worked with Jersey Cricket for ten years, Neil has been instrumental in the development of the game and players in all formats. His new appointment is a testament to his success here, including an unprecedented level of participation in international competition for the men’s national team over several years.

With the proximity of the forthcoming season and key international tournament commitments to fulfil in 2024, Jersey Cricket will now look to appoint an Interim Head Coach who can have a handover with Neil within the next few weeks. This will enable Jersey Cricket to work towards delivery of all its 2024 objectives and continue the progress of the longer term strategic plan.

Sarah Gomersall, CEO:

‘On behalf of Jersey Cricket, I’d like to express sincere thanks for Neil’s unwavering commitment to the development of cricket on island. These are big shoes to fill but I am confident a new coach is inheriting a very well-established platform and we will be able to move on to further success.’

Neil Macrae:

‘It has been an amazing ten years with Jersey Cricket. There has been significant growth in both the Men’s and Women’s game over the past ten years due to the collective effort and passion for Jersey of all involved.

The level and consistency of performances by the Men’s team has been due to the commitment and quality of the players who have established Jersey on the World Cricket map. The Women’s team has begun the journey in ICC competition and is developing well. The age group pathway continues to develop boys and girls to represent Jersey with distinction on the International stage.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to coach in Jersey and the support given by the Players, Coaching Staff, Board & Supporters throughout the ten years.’
