Jersey Women travel to Germany for T20i Tri-Series

Jersey Women’s national team travel to Germany tomorrow to take on the hosts and Italy in a T20i tri-series, to be played over 3 days of matches in Krefeld. The squad will take part in a practice session on arrival tomorrow afternoon before the action gets underway Friday with back-to-back games.

The national team return to ICC action having last played both sides at the ICC Women’s T20 European Division 2 Qualifier in Jersey in 2023, where Jersey narrowly missed out on promotion. A convincing 7 wicket victory v Italy, bowling out the visitors for just 42, was followed up by an 8-wicket loss to Germany. With these results in mind, it should be a very competitive series.

Head Coach, Darren Thomas, commented ‘’the squad are really looking forward to the tri-series. The cricket is likely to be a step up from the recent inter insular victories, so the players will need to be on the top of their games for the duration of the series.

The schedule of T20 cricket is intense, stamina is going to come into play, so it’s going to be interesting to see how all teams manage this. The series will provide great exposure to see how our skills, awareness and standards are developing”.
